چکیده
This review aimed to summarize the literature data regarding pathomorphology of lung lesions in COVID-19 and compare it with bacterial pneumonia caused by influenza virus. The analysis scientific containing studies domestic foreign authors different years related morphology anatomical pathology injury was carried out. Deaths from Bacterial Pneumonia during 1918–19 Influenza Pandemic
Deaths during the 1918-19 influenza pandemic have been attributed to a hypervirulent influenza strain. Hence, preparations for the next pandemic focus almost exclusively on vaccine prevention and antiviral treatment for infections with a novel influenza strain. However, we hypothesize that infections with the pandemic strain generally caused self-limited (rarely fatal) illnesses that enabled co...
متن کاملNeonatal meningitis caused by streptococcus pneumonia in Iran
Meningitis, pneumonia, and sepsis in newborns and young infants (age < 60 days) are the main causes of childhood mortality in developing countries. Even though streptococcus pneumonia is the most commonly detected microorganism in pediatric bacterial meningitis, it is rare in newborn infants. The following article reports a case of pneumococcal meningitis that was detected early in a newborn in...
متن کاملBacterial Pneumonia and Pandemic Influenza Planning
Pandemic influenza planning is well under way across the globe. Antiviral drugs and vaccines have dominated the therapeutic agenda. Far less work has been conducted on stockpiling and planning for deployment of antimicrobial drugs against secondary bacterial pneumonia, a cause of substantial illness and death in previous pandemics and epidemics. In the event of a pandemic, effective antimicrobi...
متن کاملInfluenza and bacterial pneumonia - constant companions
Sequential or concomitant influenza and bacterial pneumonia are two common syndromes seen in community-acquired pneumonia. Inadequacies of diagnostic testing make separating simple pneumonia with either bacteria or influenza from concomitant or sequential influenza with both microorganisms difficult, although the novel 2009 H1N1 epidemic may improve the availability of molecular testing for vir...
متن کاملDisease severity in patients with simultaneous influenza and bacterial pneumonia.
OBJECTIVE To determine the differences in the clinical features of bacterial pneumonia patients between patients co-infected with influenza virus or not co-infected. METHODS Fifteen adult patients with bacterial pneumonia (7 men and 8 women) who also tested positive for influenza virus antigen were compared with those with bacterial pneumonia alone (n=28). RESULTS Complications with chronic...
